... more about teresa

The Church ekklésia could be defined as ‘the assembly of the believers’. The body of Christ. And bodies are healthiest when all parts are doing what they have been created to do, and are connected with, and in sync with, all other parts.  “Connections” is, at its heart, helping people discover and develop a connection with God and others. Pastor Teresa works in harmony with other staff members and ministry team leaders in fulfilling Shepherd Nazarene’s mission and vision, helping to ‘Connect our community to Christ’.

Background: Teresa grew up in Arizona and still gets cold during Ohio’s winter. She has worked in many capacities within the Nazarene church. She is a Certified Trainer for “Tell the Story” and “Bible Trekking” (both interactive discipleship/Bible Study methods), has taught Theology for Ohio Christian University, worked in Outreach, Missions, Pulpit Supply, Office Administration, Large Events, and a short time as a daycare worker. The common thread is always looking for the opportunity to share with others the overwhelming love that God has demonstrated, the hope that we have because of it, and the healing that is available through Him.

Education:

Indiana Wesleyan University - B.S. Management

Nazarene Bible College - Course of Study for Ordination

Mount Vernon Nazarene University – Master of Ministry (Practical Theology) Ordained as an Elder in The Church of the Nazarene

Family: Teresa met her husband Tim while attending Point Loma Nazarene University. They have three children and recently completed their sixteenth move; most of those moves related to Tim’s service in the US Army. They have enjoyed many years of a ‘full house’, as foster parents, home daycare when the kids were little, and hosting foreign exchange students from several countries. Now that the kids are grown, they look forward to a few weeks of sunshine every February in Florida or the Caribbean.

Hobbies: Teresa loves to create new things. In her spare time you will find her decorating, painting, making homemade ice cream, thrifting, and sitting on the beach.

To Quote Teresa:

One word to describe my relationship with Jesus: Journey

If I could visit anywhere it would be: to see the Northern Lights

Favorite Food: Smoothies

On my music playlist: Gungor, Yo-Yo Ma, Steffany Gretzinger, Iz (Israel Kamakawiwo’ole), Mandisa, Toby Mac, a lot of of classical and slack key. Least known personal fact: I love flying kites.

“I would rather to attempt to do something great and fail, than attempt to do nothing and succeed.”
