The Ninth Commandment forbids false testimony but extends beyond courtrooms to all forms of lying in daily life. God hates lying because it reflects Satan’s character rather than God’s truth. We lie by contradicting, twisting, neglecting, or inflating truth. Gossip and slander damage reputations irreparably. While rare exceptions exist when innocent lives are at stake, Christians must honor truth in all situations.
