Nehemiah’s four-month prayer journey teaches us that prayer doesn’t replace preparation—it directs it. When God placed Jerusalem’s devastation on Nehemiah’s heart, he prayed specifically, prepared thoroughly, and risked courageously. His strategic planning combined with faithful prayer positioned him for obedience when the king asked, “What do you want?” God’s gracious hand moved the heart of the king to provide protection, provision, and permission for the impossible.
